Book Description

This raw coming-of-age story follows a boy named Chris, who grows up without parental guidance after his mother goes to prison and his father abandons him. Left to fend for himself, Chris is exposed to harsh realities from a young age: alcoholism, drug abuse, violence and even death. He faces traumatic physical, mental and emotional abuse, as well as life-threatening encounters with knives and guns.

Turning to music and friendships, Chris finds respite from the grim unknowns of his daily life. Even as a young boy, he is forced to make tough decisions just to survive. It is a journey that Chris himself does not fully comprehend until he begins writing this biography, unearthing long-buried childhood memories and revelations that stun his family.

Told in his own uncompromising words, this is Chris’s story: his raw perspective on a childhood of profound struggle. The book chronicles his traumatic past all the way through present day, depicting a dark path that pushes at the boundaries of human experience. But ultimately it is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

Christopher Attfield is currently on YouTube making videos about driving around London and tries to connect with his audience as much as possible by engaging them in conversations about what they see in his videos, while writing books and supporting his family.

Before he started writing, he worked various jobs. He worked for an external school providing company called Fit For Sport for 8 years, working in primary and secondary schools all over London, helping run activities. He started as an apprentice and worked his way up to site manager.

After this, he moved on to delivering food for companies like Uber, Deliveroo, and even worked in a chip shop in Fulham as their main driver for a few months. After this, he worked at Sainsbury’s as a General Assistant, where he ended up with sciatica in his back from loading heavy vehicles. He then started his YouTube channel and began writing books to help support his two sons and partner.
