Sonnet Mamgain

Sonnet is a Melbourne-based young writer with a passion for poetry and storytelling. She is currently studying English Literature and Philosophy at the University of Melbourne and contributes creative writing to the university’s student publication, Farrago.


Her debut poetry collection, Get Lost Dirty Covid-19, won the Indie Reader Discovery Award in 2021. Her work has also been published in the Indian anthology You Are Not Alone and in Pinecone Reviews. In 2024, she received the Young Influencer of the Year Award from Deakin University in recognition of her writing and community contributions. Sonnet wrote poems in this collection during the COVID-19 pandemic while she was a Year 9 student at Matthew Flinders Girls Secondary College, Geelong, Victoria.


Dr Zuivere Mamgain

Dr Zuivere Mamgain is a PhD in Communication and Journalism. She worked with the Indian Express Group in Mumbai as a senior journalist for arts and culture. After completing her PhD, Zuivere transitioned to academia and taught journalism and mass communication to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Dr Zuivere co-edited the book on the life and memory of former Indian Prime Minister Mr AB Vajpayee. Her self-published poetry book Get Lost Dirty Covid-19! has won the Indie Reader Discovery Award 2021 for best poetry collection. Her poems were also published in Indian Anthology.
