A Boy Called Joe
During the Depression and World War II, conditions were very tough.
In the suburbs, it was quite common for two families to live in one house.
The barter system existed. If you had fruit, you swapped it for eggs or vice versa.
People helped each other out.
Nothing was wasted.
One example was butter wrapped in greaseproof paper. The paper was used to grease the inside of a cake tin and then used to light the fire in the stove.

The Passing of Pete and Other Short Stories
Most of us have at the back of our minds or memories our “Oh yes, I remember whens.” These are things from our past, which we have long since forgotten, until someone or something acts as a stimulus to bring them to our minds, whether welcome or possibly even hurtful. Situations which, until something or someone brings them to our mind, come alive at the stimulus, ” You remember it as a comment from a friend or even a particular sound or smell. “Oh yes,” you say! “I had totally forgotten about that, but now that you mention it, I remember being there and recall when so-and-so said such-and-such…”
“How many times have we said to ourselves, ‘If only I had recorded and kept a diary of what happened that afternoon!’” If I had done so, I could have written a book on it. But so many of us haven’t kept sufficient details to write our magnum opus. But we can try! Instead of trying to write a 100% accurate detail of what transpired, we can include the relevant experiences in a fictional version of what happened. Yes, it all happened, but not strictly as described in this book.

The Golden Book of Creation
We are all going through spiritual awakenings and always looking for our truth, inner truth, universal truth, ways of harmoniously being with each other, growing, and ever-evolving in our everyday lives. It takes a lot to find the courage within to shift any “truths” that are no longer serving in a meaningful way, but mostly what it takes is moments of self-reflection and deeper understanding of the role we are here to fulfill in a way that means something to us. It’s not always easy to look back and reflect, and it’s not even easy to be present and experience uncomfortably any situation that is here only to provide wisdom and teachable moments. My advice? Grab these moments and make the best of them. Unbecome who you thought you were and explore with all your inner power who you truly are in every aspect of your being, and let that golden light of yours shine unapologetically at its best ability. This is the point where you find your true calling and purpose in life.
The way to treat life is with humor and wisdom in order to find the inner truth and ways to share it with those you appreciate the most.
As always, …
… be True to YourSelf & be your True Self!

Losing Arthur
This book is quite a tough read. Because the reality of caring full-time for your loved one and seeing them go downhill over a number of years with a terminal illness is quite a tough thing to do. But thankfully there are funny incidences that do occur; otherwise, I am not sure one would survive!
But despite the trauma, tears, tiredness, and tedium of what becomes routine for everyday life, the experience does bring you both closer together. It is also peppered with so many acts of kindness, help and goodwill from friends, family and medical staff.
And most importantly are the carers whom you invite reluctantly at first into your home. Initially they know nothing about you, nor you about them, yet they are prepared to share this journey with you to the very end.
