Ecology and Flora of Qornayel, Lebanon – Al Salam Village
A village situated in Qornayel, within Mount Lebanon, was founded in 2003, integrating seamlessly with the exceptional natural environment of the region. The area’s distinctive geological formations, rugged valley cliffs, verdant vegetation, and varied plant species have influenced the author, who has been conducting ecological and botanical research in the locality since 2009.
This publication acts as a comprehensive reference to the flora of Al Salam Village in Qornayel, offering novel insights into local species supported by photographic documentation obtained during field surveys led by the author. Additionally, it covers topics such as geology, cultural heritage, forest ecosystems, rock types, wildlife, and plant nomenclature. The study catalogued 160 species with 334 photos, representing approximately 6.1% of Lebanon’s total flora. The findings highlight the importance of ongoing conservation initiatives and ecological monitoring to safeguard Qornayel’s biodiversity.

Towards Iraq
Putting one foot in front of the other – it’s not spectacular, it’s not extraordinary, but it can lead us to extraordinary ends.
These words are spoken to Hannah Denno during her 3000-mile walk across Europe, a journey where the ordinary becomes extraordinary.
In April 2015, Hannah laced up her boots, hoisted her rucksack onto her back and set out from London towards Iraq, the country her grandfather came from, seeking connection with the land of her roots. The expedition was to become as much about traversing an emotional landscape as it was the physical terrain.
Each day’s tasks are unspectacular, but as she walks, she grapples with questions of national and individual identity and sees connections between her journey and the journeys made by others before her. And she never ceases to be blown away by the extraordinary kindness of strangers.
When political winds alter the course of her journey, Hannah is led to make new discoveries that take her personal pilgrimage to unexpected places.
“A cleverly balanced book, winding between European history and an individual family story.”

Life at the Chalkface
From his first day of teaching in one of the most deprived towns in the United Kingdom to the end of his career as headteacher of a large international school, Graham Lacey reflects on thirty-five years at the ‘chalkface’, through a number of specific experiences that helped shape his views, practical and theoretical, on educational matters.
While Graham is convinced there are certain prerequisites for a successful career in the profession, his tales illustrate that there can be no substitute for bitter experience. They reveal the steadily narrowing gap between the heady idealism with which Graham entered the profession and the painful reality as he progressed through it.
His anecdotes are laced with humour and predicaments that are likely to resonate with members of the teaching profession and shed light on human behaviour for other readers.
In short, Graham suggests that a comical or chastening experience may turn into a salutary lesson learnt. In that sense, Graham implies, the school classroom is perhaps no more nor less different from the world outside it.

Valentine Poet
A narrator walks through life with a poet’s mind and a heart bound by obsession. Dante’s every thought and every pulse are controlled by the idea of her. When he unblocks Lyla after years of silence, the floodgates open. Their conversations became poetry, their silences thunderous. But as words weave between them, past and present blur, bleeding into a dangerous longing.
Torn between reality and the fiction he pens. Dante spirals into a rhythmic descent. A mind lost in love, in longing, in the unbearable weight of unspoken words. Valentine Poet is an intoxicating lyrical descent into obsession, passion, and the raw ache of wanting something just out of reach.
In this novel, love is not a gift. It is a longing, a compulsion, a poem that refuses to end.
