Modern Endonasal Rhinoplasty Techniques – Volume 2
Salient Features Volume 2
The Second volume provides the reader with a step-by-step guide to developing the fundamental skills of a rhinoplasty surgeon. Septoplasty has evolved from a reductive operation to a carefully designed reconstructive operation often aided by endoscopy.
The approach to rhinoplasty has been clearly defined and demonstrated through specific cases. Osteotomies and graft technics are explained in a progressive manner. The chapters relating to tip surgery unravel the mystery surrounding this topic.
The nasal dorsum, alar base, and specific clinical scenarios enable the reader to tackle some of the most difficult issues in rhinoplasty. Finally, surgeons famed for their excellence in the open-approach discuss their views on endonasal surgery.

Maria and the Shelduck
When teenager Maria Rossi skipped school one day because she had been bullied by one of the boys in the school and was found crying in the bird hide overlooking the sea and the salt marshes by Dr Wilson, an elderly retired doctor who had spent his whole working life working with children, it started a rather more unusual friendship between the two of them as he shared his love of seabirds with her and he slowly taught her more and more about the wildlife out on this desolate peninsula.
As a result of their regular Saturday morning meetings together, they ended up saving not only the lives of some wildlife but of some people as well.
This chance first meeting was to plunge them into an adventure that neither of them could have dreamed would happen.

A Sixty Year Butterfly Odyssey
Nobody can fail to be fascinated by butterflies: their beautiful colouring, intricate wing patterns, and, above all, the miraculous transformation from egg to larva to pupa and finally to the adult butterfly. Apart from the larvae of the Small and Large Whites nibbling your cabbage leaves, they do no harm, and they perform a useful service as pollinators.
I was hooked from the age of 10 when I encountered these beautiful creatures in Epping Forest, Essex. Because their larvae generally feed on the leaves of various wild plants, to see the less common species, it is necessary to visit wild, unkempt areas of countryside. Such places have become more difficult to find as a result of increasing urbanisation and agricultural land use. Searches for the rarer species, in Switzerland and in the UK, took me to beautiful habitats: woodland, meadows, and hillsides.
Just as rewarding has been meeting the many ‘kindred spirits’ during this long journey who share this fascination.

Cassandra
Cassandra, nicknamed Kasey, is fresh out of university with an honours degree in fashion and design. She is determined to have her clothes on her catwalk, thinking she may have found this chance with Peter, only to find he had other ideas that she was not prepared to indulge in, as she knew he was married.
Totally disillusioned and down, her father slipped a card to her at breakfast, saying, “I met this chap last night at a dinner, and he’s a photographer who does a lot of catwalk work, so I briefly mentioned you, and he said he’d be happy to take you along sometime. If you’re interested, give him a ring.”
Not particularly interested at this point but decided later that day she would phone him. They arrange to meet in a local car park. Standing there watching all the cars coming in, she was expecting a middle-aged man, possibly in a beaten-up Fiat, when a bright red Ferrari drove in and then stopped right in front of her.
‘I wish,’ she thought, when a very good-looking man in his 30s wearing tight-fitting chinos and a white shirt saying, ‘Cassandra’. I’m your lift.

To the Blue
The first installment of a beautifully designed sci-fi trilogy, our story begins with an aging, planet-less race desperately determined to reach a new home. They are en route to a planet they call the Blue, named for how it appears on their faraway scans, and it just happens to be our home sweet home: Earth. Before arriving there is much to prepare, for this ship contains the last survivors of their civilization, including Kaliki and Leno, the only siblings in their entire race.
When their graduating class of five has been chosen for a special mission to the Blue before the rest of their race arrives, even their leader and Eldest, Kenthor, is involved in teaching sessions, elevating the importance of their task, for Earth is the home of the race that destroyed their planet so long ago. They must hone their skills natural to their race: telepathy, transfiguration, and intuition, and even learn they have a special power within themselves.
Do the humans live, or do they die? And can these adolescents decide this for their entire race when they experience love, heartbreak, and desire for redemption on their way? The answers will come, out of the blue.

The Existence of Amanda Blake
It is 1957, and Amanda Blake is admitted, against her will, to Bristol Mental Hospital.
Since her first breakdown, her parents have interpreted any step towards independence as proof of madness. They constantly invalidate, ignore, and gaslight her to the point where she can no longer distinguish her thoughts from theirs. She feels unheard and invisible, as though she does not exist.
Although she hears the voice of her dead grandmother, a junior psychiatrist believes her distress is a reaction to her parents’ oppression rather than a primary illness. The consultant in charge, however, aligns himself with her parents and escalates her treatment.
When her only ally, a compassionate nurse, is dismissed from the ward, Amanda is left isolated and pressured towards irreversible surgery.
Her whole existence is under threat.
