The Kite's Tale follows the story of Archie, who longs for a brother or sister, and Posy, who needs a forever home. It is a simple tale of adoption with a thread of hope running throughout.

The Land of Faerie

Do you have a light in your back garden or on your flat balcony? You know, the type which hangs from a bracket on the wall or from a post holding birdfeeders, perhaps. Have you ever looked closely at it when the light is shining? Well, Molly did just that and saw strange creatures moving about inside it.

It turned out they were faeries, from The Land of Faerie: a fantastical world where pixies, faeries, unicorns, and other magical creatures live. We can briefly experience what it is like through our dreams – providing we have enough imagination. But Molly discovered it is possible to see and talk to some of these magical creatures not just in her dreams but also when she was awake: through what the faeries called “gateways” between our world and theirs. Yes, you guessed it, the gateways are usually garden lights.

However, as you will know I am sure, such lights sometimes don’t work – most often because their batteries are run-down. When her light stopped working, Molly discovered that there was more to it than just some run-down batteries.

Desperate to be able to talk again with her friends – Maple Leaf, Iris Flower, and Mayfly – she found herself on a journey of discovery which involved learning more about global warming and global dimming. It also involved the whole of The Land of Faerie trying to solve the problems which such conditions were creating for their gateways to our world.

The Leopine and The Kumeer

In a distant far off country in The Used to Be Wild West, there is a ruler called The Kumeer. Not a particularly nice person, he shouts a lot, he doesn’t consider the people who work for him and he is generally disliked by his subjects.

One day he meets a Leopine. A ferocious-looking animal, with a heart of gold and very concerned about right and wrong. He confronts the Kumeer and threatens to do all sorts of nasty things to him if he doesn’t change his ways. The Kumeer, so scared of the Leopine, immediately becomes a caring considerate ruler, and finds out, surprisingly, that he much prefers his new way of life to his previous one. A story that shows that all people deserve consideration and respect no matter who, or what they are.

The Little Blue Planet Needs You

The Little Blue Planet has a special job that only she can do. It’s the most important job in the Galaxy and she loves it. But looking after all living things is hard for ‘Little Blue’ and recently it's become almost impossible for her.

With a high temperature and feeling quite ill, how will she be able to carry on working? Perhaps if all of her friends work together, they can come up with a plan to help make Little Blue better. And maybe you can help too?

The Lost Shell

“The Tantrum” is no stranger to most of us!

In supermarket queues the sight and sound of a prostrate three-year-old giving it all in the pursuit of emotional release, is not something to forget! Yet, this plucky little person is expressing how it feels to be in the grip of a tangle of unidentifiable emotions, unable to communicate when asked “What’s the matter?” In the simple story of The Lost Shell, a Granny uses story to find a way through the confusion of a child’s pent-up emotions, preceding the birth of a sibling. The Lost Shell is designed to be enjoyed by carer and child together, and allows the child to read the pictures and tell the story in their own words.

In talking about the story and pictures the child may identify with some of the emotions shown there. Among the possible feelings may be anger, sadness, loss, separation, love, comfort, change, joy, friendship, co-operation, curiosity, generosity, kindness, fear, achievement, and satisfaction in initiating bonding (making friends) with another. A child may recognise only a few of these feelings, but the list might prove useful to the carer, perhaps in identifying some familiar feelings of their own! We are never too old to learn. How many of us “grown-ups” have nearly “lost it” on occasion and even sensed the tantrum at our shoulder! The Lost Shell can become a delightful resource to share over and again, building mutual self-awareness while fostering the emotional intelligence, vital to navigating the future - without running aground on Tantrum Island!

The Lunch Order

Today is a special day! I am having a yummy hot lunch order and a sparkling red drink too. I told my friends about it. 

This is my first ever lunch from the school canteen! I can hardly wait for lunchtime. I hope Miss Jones will let me take the lunch basket to the canteen.
