Cinema 46 is a collection of short stories with different themes, all of interest to current readers, as they address universal issues. Paul Costa Gavin, the author of this book, has a Brazilian and North American cultural background, but the different focuses of his stories cannot be restricted to a single country or community. PC Gavin does not exempt any religion, political party, ideology, or philosophical prejudice from his critical approaches, which are personal, and never express other people’s ideas.
In addition to harshly criticizing the decadence of current culture, Paul Costa Gavin addresses in depth the problem of the meaning of human life, and this appears in all the stories in this book. The relationship between feeling and thought, the deep analysis of what it means to be human, and the always relevant question of the destiny of humanity permeate this entire book of short stories entitled Cinema 46.

Poems For Cecilia / Poemas Para Cecilia
Dr. Byron Marshall Hyde was a family doctor in Ottawa, a researcher and world-renowned specialist of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) originally and falsely called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. In 1988, he founded the Nightingale Research Foundation to explore and understand ME and fibromyalgia-type illnesses. Dr. Hyde intertwined qualities of compassion, kindness, loyalty and sensitivity. He always took the necessary time with his patients to find out exactly what they were suffering from. He had a very generous sense of welcome and an astounding memory for people and events with surprising accuracy and detail, which made him a great scientist, doctor and a prolific and unique author of short stories and poetry.
Byron Hyde was a true Renaissance man, with wide interests beyond medicine: visual arts, short stories, poetry, horticulture. Dr. Hyde’s medical books are signed as Byron Hyde, his stories and poetry as Byron Stratford Davis. He passed away on November 17, 2024, at the age of 88, survived by his beloved wife Lone, his children Christophe, Christian, Dominique, Martin, and his grandchildren, Alessandra, Augustin, Cléo, Felix, Isabelle, Lucas, Noé, Octave, Sébastien and Zéphyr.
The posthumous release of Poems for Cecilia pays homage to the marvellous writing and important medical research of Dr. Hyde.
