“East to West Across Russia” is about the journey of a lone traveler referred to as D, who travels around Russia using the Trans-Siberian Railway. While the journey is initially physical, moving from Vladivostok to Moscow, it eventually becomes more of an internal journey for D. Through the various sights that he sees and the people that he meets along the way, East to West mixes travel writing, fiction, and memoirs in order to explore issues such as isolation, romance, and self-realization.
Daniel C.A. Christianson writes in a highly personal manner. Speaking about himself, Christianson says that he is a loner. Each night, he writes stories based on his memories and imagination.
