Our highly esteemed author, Alice Vye Henningway, will be conducting a book reading session for her book, Nyika, I Love You, in the Maa-Lai Library on 25th February 2023, from 2:30 pm to 5 pm. This is a fantastic opportunity for readers to meet the author in person, and also gain insight into the inspiration behind the book. Nyika, I Love You is a deeply moving story about the power of friendship between two women from different backgrounds. Set against the backdrop of Zimbabwe's civil war, the novel explores the strength of the connection between Joanna, the daughter of a white employer, and Nyika, her black maid. Alice Vye Henningway was raised in Zimbabwe and had a deep love for the African bush and its wildlife. Her family travelled to the Cape of Good Hope before the 1850s, and Alice has drawn on these experiences to write her next novel, "The Flamboyant," with the help of her uncle, who is an established author.
