Ian Marsh visits Rainhill Library

Ian Marsh will be visiting Rainhill Library to give a talk about his book Murderer: On Your Mark on Monday the 14th March at 4.30. Dr Ian Marsh has been a university lecturer for many years and has taught, researched and written widely on crime and criminal justice. He is the author of numerous academic books on crime and justice, and uses his professional expertise to write a brilliant and insightful tale of passion and murder.

Sylvia Pink - Carolyne Mayville, Secretly Psychic, Detective

On Monday 7th December Sylvia Pink will be at Sutton in Ashfield Library signing copies of her book 'Carolyne Mayville, Secretly Psychic, Detective'. The event will be from 11am-12pm. Sylvia Pink wrote her first book at twelve, then acted it out to an audience. The story required falling out of a tree but she survived unhurt. She has enjoyed three separate careers and is happy being a member and volunteer for local charities, which have included The Rotary Club and The National Trust. Sylvia has been married to her lovely husband Tony for many years. She has a talented son who now has his own family and a stepdaughter who also has a family. Sylvia is a history ‘geek', loves gardening and walking her enormous and much loved labrador dog. In Carolyne Mayville, Secretly Psychic, Detective, Caroline Mayville, a sixty year old retired schoolteacher, lives a very traditional village life. She tends her garden, walks her dog and volunteers at the local fete. But all of that is about to change.

Author Nic Carey to Attend His Book Signing at Folk Museum, Gozo, Malta

The author of the intriguing novel, The Boy Who Talks to Animals, is going to be present at the Folk Museum, Oala, Gozo Island, Malta to sign his book’s copies. The event is going to take place on 8th February from 5 PM in the evening to 11 PM late night. As a native to the island, the author will be present till the end and is also hoping to make the event a lively one with music and other activities instead of just signing copies of his book. The event will include reading some excerpts from his book by four different people. A young guitarist will also be present to play during intervals and an artist will be painting the author’s portrait while he talks about his book! Therefore, this event is going to be an interesting one and shouldn’t be missed by the readers. The Boy Who Talks to Animals is a fictional novel based on a boy with the unique gifted abilities to communicate with the animals. The author describes in the book that it is easily observed and not uncommon to find individuals with some disability who have their other senses enhanced as a compensation. For instance, often times, a blind person is seen to have his other senses heightened like enhanced hearing, touch or smell aids. Nic Carey was born in Wokingham, Berkshire in 1952. He went to University of Manchester and qualified as an architect. He spent 12 years living in Canada and is now retired and lives in Gozo with his wife Dolores and their dogs. He is a member of the rotary club in Gozo and is an active volunteer in his community.

His role was a low paid but as decades rolled by, it became precarious with the advent of TV and Bingo. He had to struggle a lot to keep his job going and the buildings in operation. His book is reflecting his love for cinema and also how his passion helped him in succeeding. Patrick Church mainly served as a projectionist in his career. He wrote an autobiography on himself in this book. He’s showing how he guided cinema through the competitive advent of TV.
