Everald Compton will Be Hosting the Launch Event of his Book, ‘Dinner with the Founding Fathers’

Everald Compton, known for his bestselling book, the Man on Twenty Dollar Notes, will launch his next remarkable work, Dinner with the Founding Fathers, on Thursday, 24th September. The event will be held in Victoria Park Function Centre, Brisbane, the author’s city from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. In attendance will be Dr Jim Chalmers MP, Shadow Treasurers of Australia, Hon. John McVeigh, Hon. Anthony Lynham, Hon. Jane Prentice and other prominent academic figures and eminent political leaders. Drinks and savouries will be served on the occasion. In his address, the author will briefly touch upon the history of Australia, his book and the motive behind penning it down. The signed copy of this influential work will be available for 20 dollars at the time of the launch.     Dinner with the Founding Fathers is the history of the creation of the Commonwealth of Australia. It tells the splendid tale of how a small group of great leaders such as Edmund Barton, Alfred Deakin and Samuel Griffith created a Federation of Australian States in 1901. Everald Compton has been meticulous in describing the events that led to the establishment of the nation when six self-governing British colonies joined together and became one nation—Australian nation. Written for casual readers as well as historians interested in the Australian history, this book narrates the story of the lengthy conversations held among the colonies for drafting and approval of the constitution, referenda in which common Australians registered their responses, the negotiations in London and finally with Queen Victoria. It also recalls how the political coup that removed Gough Whitlam as Prime Minister in 1975 almost destroyed everything that the Founding Fathers had achieved.   Everald Compton is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Queensland, Honorary Senior Fellow of the University of the Sunshine Coast and the founder of National Seniors Australia and the Inland Railway Project. He takes a keen interest in the history and politics of his homeland. He received the Order of Australia in 1992 for his services to the community and the Centenary Medal for his services to the Transport industry. He is 88 and lives in Brisbane with his wife Helen.
