Helen Dymond spent four decades teaching English and lecturing in Humanities, including a post at City Lit, London, where she taught Handel's Operas, Oratorios and Psychology of Religion. Her passion for Handel began in the 1980s when she was a member of the Handel Opera Chorus. She conducted research for a Channel 4 film and created a popular comic parody of the Hallelujah Chorus. In London, scenes from her Handel-inspired plays were performed in 2005 and 2009.

Alice Vye Henningway to Visit the Maa-Lai Library for a Book Reading Session

Our highly esteemed author, Alice Vye Henningway, will be conducting a book reading session for her book, Nyika, I Love You, in the Maa-Lai Library on 25th February 2023, from 2:30 pm to 5 pm. This is a fantastic opportunity for readers to meet the author in person, and also gain insight into the inspiration behind the book. Nyika, I Love You is a deeply moving story about the power of friendship between two women from different backgrounds. Set against the backdrop of Zimbabwe's civil war, the novel explores the strength of the connection between Joanna, the daughter of a white employer, and Nyika, her black maid. As their bond grows, they navigate the turmoil of the conflict and find that their bond is unbreakable. Buy the book here. Alice Vye Henningway was raised in Zimbabwe and had a deep love for the African bush and its wildlife. Her family travelled to the Cape of Good Hope before the 1850s, and Alice has drawn on these experiences to write her next novel, "The Flamboyant," with the help of her uncle, who is an established author.

Author Ken Ward to be Attend His Author Talk The Book Shop Hunstanton Norfolk

Ken Ward will attend his author talk and question/answer session for his book Time for Revenge at The Book Shop in Hunstanton, Norfolk. The author's talk will be held on 16th February 2023, at 7 pm. Don’t forget to join the author and get a chance to meet him. Time for Revenge is the story of DI Keane, who is faced with a personal case in which two bodies are discovered, one at a local church and the other in a retired policeman's flower bed. He must piece together the connection between the murders and the impact it has on a mother and the village as a whole. Through his investigation, Ray finds relief and adjusts to new colleagues, leading to a positive outlook on the future. Ken Ward is a novelist born in 1960 who only started writing seriously in 2008 when he joined a writing group. He debuted his character, D.I Ray Keane, after having a short story published in a magazine. He has since published three books featuring the detective, with "Time for Revenge" being the latest. Ken resides in Norfolk with his wife and two poodles that provide him with inspiration as he writes.

Finding Handel will be taught in an Online Course at the City Lit

Finding Handel, a magnificent story drafted by Helen Dymond will be a part of an online course at the City Lit. The book is to be taught in the winter program of the Music History book club, starting on 12th December 2022. The course is to be online which would compare the historical record of the events to the novel, as well as some of the themes and works discussed in the novel. Her inspiration leads her to perform in several of Handel's plays. During her forty years of the academic journey, she mainly taught English and Humanities.
