Book Description
Louise, a seven-year-old girl from Santa Fe, New Mexico, makes an unexpected phone call to her grandpa in New Jersey on a bright September day. She asks if her family, including all her aunts, uncles, and cousins, can spend their Christmas vacation together in snowy Vermont at the big old Victorian farmhouse that has been in their family for generations. Her grandparents agree to her unusual request and begin preparing during an exceptionally beautiful autumn in Vermont.
Just before the entire family of nearly 20 people and three dogs arrive on Christmas Eve, Louise and her grandpa discover that the isolated old farmhouse and the nearby woods are inhabited by angels. To their great relief, the angels are friendly and take Louise on several incredible adventures. These magical experiences all occur on Christmas night, after everyone has gone to bed. The adventures culminate in a miraculous journey to the cave in Bethlehem, where Louise and her cousins Bianca, Amalia, and Zuri witness the birth of baby Jesus.
