Book Description

In the isolated Arctic town of Hammerfest, Norway, a sinister presence disrupts the peaceful community, casting doubt on the faith of Lars Fredriksen, a dedicated Pentecostal pastor. Mysterious phenomena – shifting objects, shadowy apparitions, and an unsettling energy – lead Lars to uncover a chilling truth rooted in the ancient traditions of the indigenous Sami people, whose suppressed spirituality threatens to awaken malevolence.

As supernatural occurrences escalate, Lars finds himself at odds with vengeful Sami spirits, forcing him to confront the ancient magic he once dismissed. Tragedy strikes when his wife Anja falls into a coma, and their daughter Astrid teeters on the edge of possession. To save them, Lars embarks on a perilous journey into the wilderness for a powerful purification ritual, battling grotesque spirit guides that embody his fears.

Though he believes he has triumphed, Anja awakens transformed, her chilling demeanor suggesting that the battle for Hammerfest is far from over. An ancient darkness still lurks, eager to unleash a new wave of terror on the town.

Orn Pedersen Cappelen, born in 1978 on a small island near Sandnessjoen, Norway, is a man of diverse interests. Spending most of his childhood in Hammerfest, Finnmark, he developed a strong interest in theology during his Bachelor’s studies. His conversion to Pentecostal Christianity at 22 led him to explore the Jewish roots of Christianity. He also showed a deep respect for different cultures by engaging with Sami shamanism. Orn, now residing near Kristiansand with his wife, Anniken, and their Birman cat, Mittens, is unwavering in his dedication to exploring the intersections of faith, culture, and history.
