Book Description

This work includes two short novels. I have transformed true events into short novels. I was one of them who survived the war until the last day. What happened in Sri Lanka in the twenty-first century is the genocide of Tamil people in Sri Lanka.

An ‘Eternal Testament’, a short novel, is a dissection of that genocide. The Tamil race in Sri Lanka, which became a victim of genocide, has not received justice to this day. I firmly believe that this short novel will draw the attention of the international community.

The Tamil Eelam Liberation Struggle was a just cause. It is unique compared to other liberation struggles in the world. Fighters in the Tamil Eelam Liberation Struggle engaged in the movement with honesty and in truth. I have depicted the experience and history of one of them in the short novel ‘One Nation – One Heart; One Heart – One Nation’. I believe that the short novel will help the world understand the nation of the liberation struggle.

Let the sense of emancipation spread among the people all over the world. Let the door of the
heart of the World Court open! Let us get justice.

Theepavarnan Anandamyl was a student at the faculty of Management Studies and Commerce at the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka. I recently had the opportunity to read One Nation – One Heart; One Heart – One Nation by Theepavarnan Anandamyl, and I was deeply moved by the stories it tells and the message it conveys. This book is much more than a collection of stories. It is a powerful reflection on the experiences, struggles, resilience, and hopes of the Tamil people. The author's passion for preserving history and sharing the truth shines through every page, making the book both informative and emotionally engaging. What I appreciated most was the authenticity of the writing. Theepavarnan writes with sincerity, compassion, and a deep understanding of the human experiences behind historical events. His ability to weave personal journeys with broader themes of identity, justice, and perseverance makes this book both compelling and thought-provoking. As someone who cares deeply about human rights and ensuring that the stories of oppressed communities are heard, I found this book particularly meaningful. It serves as an important reminder of the strength of a people who have endured immense hardship while holding onto hope and dignity. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in history, human rights, and stories of courage and resilience. It is a valuable contribution that educates, inspires, and encourages reflection. Congratulations to Theepavarnan Anandamyl on this wonderful achievement.

I loved this book! It captured the Tamil genocide so figuratively and emotively. Well worth the read for sure.

The Tamils, who are a numerical minority on the island of Sri Lanka, have been subjected to continuous ethnic persecution by governments dominated by the Sinhala majority. At the time Sri Lanka came under European colonial rule, the Tamil people had their own kingdom and independent administrative structures. However, the European powers transformed the island’s system of governance into a centralized unitary state and left behind a single administrative framework. From that point onward, Tamil lands, education, economic opportunities, and lives were increasingly subjected to destruction and marginalization. Demands raised through non-violent means were suppressed through military force. Eventually, Tamil youth took up arms in resistance. Among the armed movements, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) emerged as the principal organization. For 33 years, it led the armed struggle and established a de facto Tamil Eelam administration. However, through the Sri Lankan government's brutal military campaign, international norms were violated, food and medicine were blocked, and indiscriminate bombardment was carried out, leading to the destruction of the de facto Tamil Eelam administration. As a result, countless people lost their loved ones and their lives. This novel unfolds as the story of one family that survived those events, expanding across two volumes. The loss of life, physical well-being, property, and economic security brings immense suffering. Yet many losses are psychological and emotional, leaving wounds that run even deeper. These novels capture and portray that pain with profound depth.
