Book Description

This story is for the monsters who live under beds,

And all the children who guard them.

When a kind, courageous little boy faces his fears,

And a scared little Snark finally decides to be brave,

A new friendship grows and they both learn that it’s easier to be brave together.

Hayley grew up in Zimbabwe, spending many holidays in the bush with her family. After she qualified as a teacher, she lived in England for a few years and spent holidays exploring Europe. She now lives in South Africa near the ocean, with her husband, son and dogs. She still loves holidays in the bush but also enjoys frequent walks on the beach and in the mountains nearby.

This beautifully illustrated story delivers a powerful message for young children—and a great reminder for adults. Helping a child build bravery is one of the greatest challenges of raising a child. This delightful book gently reminds us that while facing fears is scary, we don’t always have to do it alone. Often taking that first step is the hardest part, but the reward is entirely worth it. I highly recommend this inspiring read.

I read this charming little story called The Mifbunkling Snark and it took me back to my childhood where I remember those night fears about something hiding under my bed. I wish I had had The Mifbunkling Snark to read then. What a clever way to reassure children that there is nothing to fear but the unknown. I would recommend it to all families.

I bought this book for my nephew's third birthday, and I'm so pleased I did. The bright, colourful illustrations are wonderful and I'm sure he'll love looking at them. But what I love most is the underlying message – that everyone needs a friend, even the monster under your bed. It's a really sweet story with a lovely message about friendship and kindness. I can't wait to read it with him.

Such a sweet and beautifully illustrated little story! I love the gentle message about facing our fears, friendship and kindness. It’s a lovely reminder that scary things don’t always have to be faced alone, and that having a friend can make all the difference. A charming book with a wonderful message for little ones — and one that adults will appreciate too.

The Mifbunkling Snark is a truly enchanting little story, full of heart and gentle imagination. The young boy at the centre of the tale feels wonderfully real and easy for little readers to connect with, while the Snark itself is brought to life as a beautifully unique and comforting character. What makes this book so special is the way it takes something that could feel big or overwhelming and transforms it into something soft, magical, and completely safe. It turns worry into wonder. My three-year-old is completely captivated and now has a nightly ritual of searching for his Snark before bed – like a little treasure hunt before sleep. The illustrations are visually delightful, and the story is simple yet carefully crafted, with real thought behind every page. A magical bedtime read that I would recommend to any family looking for a story that soothes, reassures, and sparks a child’s imagination.
