The Fly Sermon and Other Odes
For over forty years I’ve been writing odes about people, places, and experiences in my life. My career in education has been amazing and at times intense, but I managed to escape to hobbies and interests and always attempted to summarise in the form of an ode. These were all placed in boxes and stored away until now. When I retired from teaching, I opened the boxes and read through the odes. They were almost like a diary of my life so far.I’ve selected 21 odes for this collection. They are about friends, holiday experiences, hobbies and sometimes things that happened in my school life.My favourite is The Fly Sermon. I wrote it 36 years ago for children to recite in their assembly about tolerance for others and non-discrimination. The theme is as important now as it was then. Our life is surrounded with all sorts of living things, which we should respect and learn to live with, regardless of quirks, traits, or physical features.I’ll remember whenever a fly I do see, The importance of living in close harmony.

Clerk
The world we perceive is but a fraction of what truly exists. The most significant events transpire at the boundary between two realms: the visible and the invisible. These worlds intersect within the human soul, where a relentless battle for dominion rages until one emerges victorious. To triumph, one must recognize the enemy: a cunning and devious spirit, willing to employ any means necessary to satisfy its own ambitions. This entity seeks to advance its status within its own realm, exploiting human beings as mere instruments to achieve its nefarious goals. Most crucially, the enemy selects its victims with deliberate intent, a fact that illuminates much about their lives. In this timeless struggle, the specifics of time and place are rendered insignificant.

God
Have you ever pondered the existence of God? It’s a question that has crossed everyone’s mind at some point. Whether you are a faithful believer, harbor doubts about religion, or feel that the answer is unknowable, this book offers a thought-provoking perspective. The author shares his personal testimony of being saved by God, suggesting that science alone cannot provide all the answers, especially when it comes to the fundamental question of ‘why.’Throughout the book, the author introduces profound concepts such as the origin of all things and the knowledge of heaven. He asserts that evidence of God can be found within oneself and that reaching out to Him is possible. The author argues that you, as a creation of God, hold the key to understanding His existence. It seems implausible that the most profound emotions and experiences we possess are merely an illusion. The book challenges the notion that the theory of evolution can dismiss the existence of God, pointing out its inherent flaws. It suggests that the higher state of human consciousness endures beyond the physical realm. Furthermore, the author presents a compelling vision for the future of our species, offering hope and purpose. If you’ve ever grappled with the question of God’s existence, this book provides a fresh and thought-provoking perspective that may just reshape your understanding of life’s greatest mysteries.
