The Rats, the Cat and the Thieves

Miranda warned Auto as she put on her apron, “I will give you away.”

Miranda threatened to send Auto, a Siamese cat, away after she wrongly accused him of stealing food at night. He needed assistance because he couldn’t possibly look into the situation on his own.

Who will help him? He made the decision to approach his foes, the rats, for assistance in clearing his name because he had no idea who had stolen the food. When she threatened to give him away, Miranda meant it seriously. Auto is running out of time because food has been stolen three days in a row and the thief left the kitchen floor dirty.

Are the rats going to believe Auto’s story? Why should the rats help an adversary? What if he harms them? How will Auto convince them that he is telling the truth? Will Auto and the rats put the past behind them and look into the situation? Or, will the rats simply ignore Auto’s pleading for assistance and mind their own business?

The Red Shawl

Now there is a stone wall and a heavy wooden door. When Lily dares to lift the heavy latch and go through the door she finds a new friend and discovers a world far different from her own. She visits her new friend, Effie, and her little dog, Lupin, regularly – and with them she has an adventure she could never have dreamt of. Twice she parts with the red shawl when others have greater need of it, and when she parts with it forever the shawl becomes a symbol of love and friendship that reaches through time.

The Roadside Fairies

The roadside fairies have lived alongside us for many years, living by paths in secret dwellings across the lands before there were major roads and motor vehicles. Their main role was to heal creatures when they became ill or sustained injuries using their magic and potions. Over time, the roadside fairies had to readjust and move their dwellings due to major roads being built and vehicles becoming extremely fast and dangerous. The creatures of the forests needed the roadside fairies help more than ever as more and more where being injured. The roadside fairies, led by Great Elders, had learned to communicate with the creatures who held them in very high esteem. Young fairies called Limes start to rebel against the old ways, wanting to acquire the sacred ‘Book of the Elders’ that contained old dark magic that had not been used for centuries. This book was protected by a Great Elder called Beatri. Clover, a young girl living in a commune in the forest, is drawn into the battle to protect ‘The Book of the Elders’.

The Rock People

“Look What I’ve found!” called my grandson, who was gazing into a puddle on the Derbyshire Moors.
“Is it a Little Rock Person?” I asked…and that is where my story begins.

Rock People are very hard to find because they are camouflaged, so they look just like ordinary rocks. But they are not ordinary rocks! They are all very different little people. They have retractable arms and legs, head pipes that act as snorkels, hooks and periscopes and their amazing superpowers are hidden behind secret trap doors in their stomachs. They are armour-plated, amphibious and GREAT fun!

They move by using their tiny legs which fold up inside their bodies when they need to roll about. They don’t talk, but they have a secret tapping language that only Rock People can hear (except for Nannie, who is deaf). Sometimes, they get stuck in people’s shoes, or picked up and put into someone’s pocket, or blown away by the wind or even ‘licked up’ onto the tongue of a creature. YUCK!

The Rock Family live in a cosy, secret home inside the trunk of an ancient oak tree. They have a workshop and they build wonderful things like rockets. As you can imagine, they are ALWAYS having adventures!

The Scissor Family and Friends

The Secret Life of Squirrels

The grey squirrels on the south coast of Hampshire are having food problems. It’s winter and there is little food – raiding the local bird table is not an option. A big seagull guards the food for the smaller birds. What can the greys do? Someone finds a video on the animal social media ‘Metube’ which claims that the trees growing green acorns grow them all year round – an evergreen food source!

The problem is that greys aren’t allowed on the Isle of Wight where the trees grow. The red squirrels and humans don’t want them there either, as Rufus, red squirrel leader, tells them in no uncertain terms! 

The greys take to boats and try many weird and wonderful ideas to cross the great blue water that separates them. But the reds fight back big time. Who will win?
