Our author Matilda Meikle, writer of The Way We Once Were, attended a book launch event on 18 October. The event drew a crowd of 110 readers and the book sold out by the end of the evening.
The Way We Once Were follows seventeen year old Maggie as she approaches her final year of high school. She wants one thing. A perfect last year with the friends she loves. Her anxiety makes that goal harder to reach and life becomes even more complicated when she uncovers a difficult truth about her father and begins to feel a growing connection with her best friend Piper. As the months unfold through parties, long nights, and exams, Maggie starts to question what a perfect year truly means and whether she and her friends can find their place in the world.
Matilda Meikle is an author from Sydney who has loved writing since childhood. Her award winning short stories have appeared in several outlets and The Way We Once Were is her debut novel.
