The tale “Pon My Puff” is an autobiographical one, talking about a boy’s life in the 1920s when he grew up in the Isle of Wight under his grandparents’ guardianship. The life of Peter Stark Lansley was rich and interesting; he started as a student of radio engineering and then worked as a radio officer in the Merchant Navy during World War II, managing to survive a torpedo attack. He worked further in his field after the end of the war and eventually retired on the Isle of Wight.
