Joy Osborne’s Book Featured in Grimsby Telegraph

The Grimsby Telegraph has featured former prison chaplain Rev Joy Osborne following the release of her second book Prison Life Through the Eyes of a Chaplain. Published by Austin Macauley Publishers on 14 August 2026, the book draws on her experiences at HMP Lincoln.

The book follows An Inside Job and offers a personal account of life behind prison walls. Osborne recalls responding to emergencies and supporting prisoners and staff through grief. She also shares happier moments such as weddings held inside the prison.

Her accounts explore the challenges of prison life and the importance of listening, compassion and practical support. They give readers a glimpse into a world many people rarely see.

A lifelong Lincolnshire resident, Osborne worked in retail and social work before training for church ministry in her forties. She later became a chaplain at HMP Lincoln and continues to write in retirement.
