British author Kay Louise Bowen has been named a Winner of the 2026 NYC Big Book Award in the Psychological Thriller category for her latest novel, Secrets II: Vengeance & Revenge.
The award recognises Bowen’s gripping storytelling and marks another important step in her writing career.
Secrets II: Vengeance & Revenge continues the story that began in Bowen’s debut novel, Secrets. Eight years after escaping their troubled past, Gina and Neil Adams finally seem to have found peace. But their lives take a dark turn when their former tormentor, Annabel Hayes, is released from prison and their young son, Teddy, goes missing. Filled with secrets, betrayal and revenge, the novel offers a gripping read for fans of psychological thrillers.
Bowen took early retirement after many years as an adult education tutor. She now enjoys a quiet life with her husband and five cats, while spending time with her son and grandchild. What began as a hobby soon grew into a passion for writing, as she discovered how easily she could lose herself in her characters and the worlds she created. Winning the 2026 NYC Big Book Award for Secrets II: Vengeance & Revenge marks a proud moment in her journey as an author.
