He is well-versed and passionate about his education. In college, he indulged in geography, which aided him in his interest in the environment and its issues. He has been fascinated by the story of the challenging voyage and its accomplishments. He had the idea of writing a narrative of the life on the challenger, from the view of his grandfather while he was in a creative writing class at Mary Ward Centre in London. The narrative is based on numerous stories and sea shanties.
