Author Andrew Rae joined Donna Seebo for a 30-minute interview about his poetry collection Transcendence. Broadcast on 16 September 2026, the conversation revolved around the book and the ideas behind his writing. Rae said the interview went well and that Seebo had responded warmly to the collection.
Published by Austin Macauley Publishers, Transcendence explores moments when people feel a deeper connection to the world around them. Rae gets his inspiration from quiet moments beside a stream in Wiltshire and walks through African forests. His poems reflect on how nature can ease worry and help people feel part of something greater.
The book also explores the comfort people find in old churches, prayer and familiar traditions. Some poems follow the Christian calendar through Christmas while the final section looks at life during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
Rae’s background spans science and the arts. He studied quantum physics and mathematics at Cambridge before working at several British universities. He has also established a charity supporting ecological education and research in South Africa.
