The book plots the chaotic era, starting from 1973, right after the war of independence in Bangladesh. Gareth McKinley, a young Australian, came to the country to work on a humanitarian project to set up a care system for destitute children. Soon he realized that the post-war environment is highly unstable. The book beautifully unfolds Gareth’s journey towards self-awareness in ways he never knew were possible.
