April May was born in 1940 in the small Somerset village of Temple Cloud. In 1956, when she was 18 years old, she and her parents moved to Bristol. It was in Bristol that she met and married her husband, Norman. In 1963, they migrated with their twin sons to Western Australia, adding 4 more sons and 1 daughter to their family.
April and her husband of 64 years now live in Albany on Western Australia’s stunning south coast. They have 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Over the years, they’ve had their fair share of ‘house guests,’ including guinea pigs, ducks, chickens, cats and numerous rescued dogs. They now share their days with a lunatic lurcher called Stanley and Lindsay, an elderly Huntaway, with selective hearing.
