Mary Yates studied illustration at an art college, then trained as an art teacher at Manchester University. She has previously written and illustrated a children’s novel for her daughter, then aged ten, and has also written short stories for her grandchildren. Over the past thirty years, she has written, produced and directed numerous nativity plays and passion plays and has recently produced and directed three pantomimes.
