Elizabeth was born in Darlington in 1926, and now lives in Freshwater Bay on the Isle of Wight—not far from the Needles Radar Station where she was a radar operator. She and her husband, Richard Hutchings, returned from New Zealand in 1961 with their three Kiwi sons, Keith, Nigel and Simon. 2016 saw the celebration of thirty years of their Hunnyhill Publications. They had a bookshop in Shanklin and Winchfield Gardens in Newchurch. Elizabeth was the organizer of the pioneering Isle of Wight Social Services Home Sitting Service, supporting carers. She spent 30 years in Broadclyst creating her organic garden, and now lives with her son Simon.
