Francois Mai

Francois Mai is an author, athlete, physician and musician. He was born and raised in South Africa of first-generation French ancestry and became a Canadian citizen in 1977. He earned his medical degree at the University of Cape Town, and completed psychiatric training in Great Britain and the United States.

Mai is author of a monograph entitled Diagnosing Genius: The Life and Death of Beethoven.

He has been awarded a Fellowship of the Canadian Psychiatric Association and is a professional member of the Canadian Authors Association. He lives in Ottawa.
