James Carra was born on January 4, 1938 in Hopetoun, Victoria, Australia. He has six siblings of which he is the eldest. He left school at about 13 and started working in the term to help his teacher.
He started writing about 10 years ago after attending a creative writing class at TAFE college. His teacher Graham encouraged him to write his own stories and as of today he has written more than 3,500 short stories.
